Knowing what the man is capable of — not only his vast ambitions but also his nonchalance and intrepidity in the face of the law, which may place him readily with the likes of al-Bashir and Gaddafi — he may be considered as promising. Yet, given the fine points of global politics as applicable to the region, it is still dubious that even Erdoğan can succeed ending up before the ICC."
