UPDATED: MORE MARVEL TO COME...?
Updated (below): Amazon.com has again updated their database with
information about upcoming Marvel trade paperbacks and hardcovers.

Like last time, the information must be taken with a grain of salt, and may
not be ultimately proven accurate, but here is what was in Marvel’s plans
at one time or another and may still be…

- November 2006 sees an “Ant-Man Volume 1 TPB”, collecting “Ant-Man #1-
6”. Could this be the unpublished MAX series by Daniel Way and Clayton
Crain? No notation was given identifying this as a MAX project.

- On that note, the “Shanna, The She-Devil Max Version HC” is also listed
as a November ’06 release, and not to be confused with the “Shanna, The
She-Devil Premiere HC” (no MAX notation) on Amazon’s schedule for
November ’05.

- Rounding out November is a “Warbird/Ms. Marvel TPB”, listed only as 144
pages.

- Moving into October ’06, you can find something called “The Cat TPB”,
again, listed only as 144 pages.

In the "take this for what it's worth" category. "The Cat" is the original
superhero name of Patsy Walker, who would later become better known to
Marvel fans as "Hellcat".

Hellcat was recently identified at Marvel's Comic-Con International "Cup 'O
Joe" panel as a character that Director of Sales David Gabriel wanted to
see come back and that some "Hellcat" scripts and proposals were floating
around the Marvel offices.

- Also in October is the 120-page “X-Men: The 198 TPB”, and the 120-
page “Wonder Man: My Fair Super-Villain TPB”.

Marvel does “Pygmalion”? We’ll see…

- Along with a “Moon Knight TPB” in September ’06, comes “Last Hero
Standing II TPB” and the 144-page “X-23: Ronin TPB”.

- In July, a “Son of M TPB” collecting “Son of M #1-6” is listed, along with a
144-page “Spider-Woman: Year One Premiere HC”.

- Your guess is as good as ours as to what a 120-page “Ares TPB” is, but
Amazon expects it to go on sale in July ’06 too.

- In May, the 96-page “Black Panther: Bad Mutha HC (Hardcover)” by
Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr. collects “Black Panther (2005) #10-13”,
according to the online retailer.

But this listing demonstrates the tentative nature of such advanced
solicitations. In our last report, a “Black Panther: The Wedding TPB" was
listed for May ’06 collecting issues #7-13.

While nothing would prevent Marvel from collecting issues #10-13 in two
different formats, it would be unusual for them to go onsale the same
month, and the listing for “The Wedding” no longer appears on Amazon.

- "House Of M: Generation M TPB” in May is credited to Roberto Aguirre-
Sacasa.

- A book listed in our last report, “Incredible Hulk: Peace In Our Time TPB”
gets new details added with the update, now credited to the creative team
of Daniel Way and Keu Cha and collecting “Incredible Hulk #87-91”, an
early indication of the next Hulk creative team following Peter David’s exit.

Though Cha has already clarified on comicboards.com that he only drew
two issues of a five issue arc written by Way.

Newsarama has also learned artist Brandon Peterson will provide covers
for the Hulk beginning with this creative team.

- February ’06 lists an “Art Of David Mack Volume 1 HC (Unbound)”, and
also that month is the 144-page “What If? TPB” collecting the “What If
2005 one-shots”.

That follow-up to last year’s event was expected, but interesting about
Amazon’s listing is the creators credited, including: “Daniel Way, Greg Pak,
Robert Kirkman, Rick Veitch, Marshall Rogers, Mike Carey, Jon Proctor, Keu
Cha, Michael Avon Oeming, Tommy Lee Edwards.”

Update: Friday evening, on this "Bad Signal" emai list, writer Warren Ellis
linked to this very report, telling his Marvel fans one of the projects listed
above is an unannounced title that he will write.

While the smart money is probably on "Ares" or "The Cat", less likely -
though not to be entirely ruled out - are "Warbird/Ms. Marvel"
and "Wonder Man: My Fair Super-Villain”.
